Why are my references still pending?

What to do if your references are still pending.

After you submit a reference request, it will appear on your profile with the status of pending until it is filled out and completed by your reference.

A pending status means, the reference request has been sent and Trusted is pending a response from your reference.

Remember after you send the request we automatically either text or email the reference a super short questionnaire to fill out on your behalf. The moment it is completed by your reference, a PDF of the reference form is automatically uploaded to your Trusted profile.

This happens automatically, which means that if your references are still pending your references have not yet had a chance to complete the request. We recommend you try a few things:

  1. Reaching out directly to your reference letting them know they should have received an email or text so that it is on their radar.

  2. Resending the reference request, it is not uncommon that the email or text was missed or accidentally deleted.

    To resend a reference request, head to your profile and navigate to the reference section. Locate the reference request you would like to resend and click remind reference. This option is only available 48 hours after you send the original reference request.

  3. Add in additional reference requests to increase the likelihood of the reference request being done quicker!
