What happens to your benefits when you have a gap between assignments?

Benefits When Extending Your Contract

If you sign an extension at your current facility, your benefits will continue as is! If you take time off before the extension starts, you will have to catch up on deductions for the missed benefits deductions on your first paycheck back. You cannot update/make changes to your benefits plans without a Qualifying Life Event (QLE). You can view a full list of the different types of QLEs at HealthCare.gov.

What happens if I have a gap of 7 days or less?

If you sign a contract for a new assignment at your current facility or another facility with a gap of 7 days or less, your benefit enrollments will continue from your previous assignment.

What happens if I have a gap of 30 days or less and then come back in the same month?

If you sign a contract for a new assignment at your current facility or another facility and your new assignment starts within the same month, your benefits will remain active.

You can only elect changes to your benefits if you experience a qualifying life event or during open enrollment. If you had previously waived benefits, that action will also carry over.

What happens if I have a gap of 30 days or less and come back the next month?

If you sign a contract for a new assignment at your current facility or another facility with a gap of 30 days or less between assignments and your new assignment starts in the next month, your benefits will remain active through the end of the month that your assignment ends. You will then be automatically re-enrolled into the same plans you had effective as of your rehire date. If you had previously waived benefits, that action will also carry over. You can only elect changes to your benefits if you experience a qualifying life event.

You will be able to enroll in COBRA if you wish to avoid a gap in coverage.

If you return to Trusted for a new assignment and are currently enrolled in COBRA coverage, please notify your care team as soon as possible to prevent dual enrollment. You will also need to cancel your COBRA coverage by the end of the current month. To do so, please contact Discovery following the instructions provided below. Once your COBRA coverage is canceled, you will be eligible to enroll in Trusted's benefits through a Qualifying Life Event (QLE).

To submit your QLE request, log into ADP and navigate to Myself > Benefits > Enrollment > Report a Life Change, then select "Add Employee Coverage" as the QLE type. For detailed instructions on submitting your QLE, check out this article!

If you have any questions about re-enrolling in your benefits through ADP for your next assignment, please reach out to your Care Team by sending a message through Inbox.

What happens if I have a gap of more than 30 days?

Your benefits will remain active through the end of the month that your assignment ends. If you sign a contract to start a new assignment more than 30 days after your previous assignment ends, you will have an opportunity to elect new benefits effective the start date of your new assignment.

You will be able to enroll in COBRA if you wish to avoid a gap in coverage.

What happens if I don’t have a new assignment lined up?

Your benefits will continue to be active through the end of the month in which your contract ends, at no additional cost to you. Once your benefits are no longer active, you will be able to continue your coverage with COBRA through our broker Discovery. To be eligible for COBRA coverage, you must have been enrolled in benefits while you were working. You will receive a COBRA packet in the mail from Discovery to the address we have on file in ADP within 7 to 14 days after your contract ends.
