As a Trusted Nurse, you accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every thirty (30) hours you work up to a maximum of 72 hours total. Accrual starts from your first day on an assignment with Trusted, and you can use this leave beginning on your 90th day of employment with us.

Sick leave only applies to your hourly wages and does not cover your stipends.

Paid sick leave can be used toward medical care for an existing health condition, preventative care, or specific purposes related to being a victim of stalking or domestic violence.

As a heads up, you’ll need to submit documentation to use paid sick leave in certain situations, such as:

  • Using paid sick leave for three or more consecutive shifts

  • Using paid sick leave during a week that contains a holiday

  • Using paid sick leave during your first and last weeks of your assignment

  • Using paid sick leave for a reasonably foreseeable or pre-scheduled absence

  • If we need to verify that the reason for your requested leave is consistent with our sick leave policy and any applicable federal, state, or local regulations

In these cases, we must receive documentation on the reason for your leave before you can receive payment for shifts for which this leave was taken.

Accrued sick leave cannot be paid out but will carry over as long as your rehire date is within 1 year of the previous separation date.

Sick leave cannot be used to compensate you above your contracted hours each week. For example, let's say you are contracted for 36 hours per week. You worked 12 hours Monday, 12 hours Tuesday, and called out sick for your entire 12-hour shift Thursday. You then picked up a 12-hour shift Friday. Since this all happened in the same workweek, Trusted would not be able to pay sick leave for the 12 hours missed on Thursday since you reached your contracted hours for that week.
