How and when do I start to accrue sick leave hours?

As a Trusted Clinician, you accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every thirty (30) hours you work up to a maximum of 80 hours total. Accrual starts from your first day on an assignment with Trusted. You are eligible to start using sick leave starting on your 90th day of employment with us.

You must notify us and your facility of your intent to use paid sick leave as soon as possible.

Does my sick leave cover my stipends as well?

No. Sick leave only applies to your hourly wages and does not cover your stipends.

When am I eligible to use my sick leave?

You are entitled to sick leave for illness, injury, or to receive medical care, or for any other reason permitted by applicable law. This includes, but is not limited to, routing medical and dental appointments, for yourself, your child, parent, spouse, registered domestic partner, your spouse's or registered domestic partner’s child, or other persons designated by federal, state, and local laws, when such person is ill or injured, or receiving medical care.

Do I need documentation to use my sick leave?

Documentation is not required at the time of submitting your weekly timecard. However, we may request that you submit documentation to use paid sick leave as permitted under applicable federal, state, and local law. In these cases, we must receive documentation on the reason for your leave before you can receive payment for the shifts for which this leave was taken.

Will my accrued sick leave be paid out or carried over?

Accrued sick leave cannot be paid out but will carry over as long as your rehire date is within 1 year of the previous separation date.

What is the maximum amount of hours my sick leave covers?

Sick leave cannot be used to compensate you above your contracted hours each week nor be applied to hours (or days) above your contracted amount, days that have Approved Time Off in your contract, or hours that you’re called off by the facility.

For example, let's say you are contracted for 36 hours per week. You worked 12 hours Monday, 12 hours Tuesday, and called out sick for your entire 12-hour shift Thursday. You then picked up a 12-hour shift on Friday. Since this all happened in the same workweek, Trusted would not be able to pay sick leave for the 12 hours missed on Thursday since you reached your contracted hours for that week.
