Qualifying Life Event

If you are within 30 days of your assignment start date, you can make any changes to your benefits enrollments by logging into ADP and navigating to myself > benefits > enrollments. If you are past 30 days of your assignment start date, you can only make changes to your benefits with a Qualifying Life Event.

Due to IRS guidelines, you cannot make changes to your health insurance benefits outside of your employer's annual open enrollment period unless you experience a qualifying life event (QLE). A QLE makes you eligible for a special enrollment period.

You have 30 days from the date of your qualifying event to submit your requested change in ADP (see below) and you will be asked to include:

  1. Supporting documents.

  2. The date the change occurred.

Outside of a special enrollment period, the only opportunity you have to make a change is during our annual open enrollment OR if you sign an extension! To learn more about making changes upon an extension click here.

QLE Effective Date

The effective start date of your QLE enrollment becomes the QLE date. (i.e. If you get married on July 5, your change/enrollment is effective July 5th.)

Types of QLEs

You can view a full list of the different types of QLEs at HealthCare.gov.
