What are the reference requirements & what is Trusted verifying?

Reference Count. You need 2 completed references. You're welcome to add as many references as you'd like! Asking for a reference from several people can sometimes help to get 2 completed reference forms back faster!

Reference Timeframe. Your references must be completed within the past 24 months and from employment ending within the past 24 months. If you have not worked within the 24-month timeframe or your facility does not allow managers to provide references, we are not able to bypass this requirement.

Reference's Relationship to You.

For Nurses: References can be from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse. No peer or personal references are accepted. Some facilities only accept manager or supervisor-level references, so those are always preferred to help speed up your application process.

For Allied Health Professionals: Both references need to be from either a manager or supervisor. No peer or personal references are accepted.

❗The title listed on the reference must match their relationship to you. For example, if their title is Charge Nurse, but the relationship to you was marked as "Manager" it does NOT count as a manager reference.

Format. Your references must be on a standard reference form. If you submit a reference request through Trusted, we automatically format the reference to meet the requirements.

❗ You can upload a previously completed reference, but it needs to state your eligibility for rehire. This usually is asked, "If given the opportunity, would you rehire?" or "Is there anything that disqualifies this person from being hired back at the facility?" on the reference.

We are not able to accept letters of recommendation, no matter how great they might be!

Reference Remarks. Your references reflect positive remarks. This means that none of the classifications (about you as an employee or your skill level) are marked as "below expectations" and the reference must confirm that you are eligible for rehire.

Why do I have to have 2 completed references as part of my application?

To submit your application to any opportunity, you need 2 completed references that meet the above requirements. The requirements are set by the facilities or their point of contact who manages their travel clinicians, not Trusted.
