Can I use a skills checklist that I have already completed elsewhere?

Yes! You can use a skills checklist you have previously done! It just needs to meet the following requirements:

  • Assessment Type. Skills checklists are different from competency exams and can often be confused. A skills checklist is an untimed, self-evaluation of the frequency and proficiency of skills related to your role or specialty. Skills checklists are not time or given a percentage score. If it is a skills checklist the score on the assessment is between 0.0-4.0 whereas a score of a competency exam is 0-100%.

  • Timeframe. The skills checklist needs to be completed within the last 12 months. If your skills checklist expires (completed more than 12 months ago) in the next few months we recommend getting ahead of it and completing a new one ASAP to prevent delays in your future applications.

  • Role or Speciality. The skills checklist needs to be reflective of your role (allied health professionals only) or specialty (nurse only). For example, if you are a pediatric ER registered nurse, you would request to complete both the emergency room and pediatric skills checklist.

  • Format. The uploaded assessment needs to be a PDF of the expanded version of your completed skills checklist.

โ— Your uploaded assessment will be reviewed by your Care Team. To prevent delays in your applications, it is important your skills checklist meets all of the requirements. To view an example of a completed skills checklist, scroll to the bottom of this article to view the attached PDF.
