How can I prepare for my VA interview?

We often hear that VA interviews can feel a little awkward—and we get it! Just remember: the purpose of this interview is to give the hiring manager a better sense of who you are beyond your resume. It’s one piece of your overall application that helps the facility determine if you're a strong fit for their unit.

To make the most of this opportunity, keep these tips in mind:

  • Read the instructions carefully before you begin.

  • Choose a quiet, interruption-free space to record your responses. If your audio is unclear or disrupted by background noise, the interview may need to be redone—which could affect your chances of moving forward.

  • Have your Trusted profile and skills checklists handy so you can easily reference your work history and confidently speak to your experience.

  • Let your personality and professionalism shine. This is your chance to make a positive impression through your voice and presence.

  • Complete the interview promptly. You have 24 hours to submit it, but the sooner you complete it, the sooner AMN can move your application forward.
