Issues may arise while you are on assignment as a Trusted Nurse. It is important that you alert of us these as soon as possible, in addition to escalating concerns to the unit manager, as applicable.

If you are experiencing a clinical emergency, please call 415-466-1466 and choose the Emergency Line option.

It is important that Trusted Nurses maintain professionalism and integrity throughout the conflict resolution process and that, above all, patient safety is the priority.

Common issues or concerns that may arise are:

  • Conflict with hospital staff

  • Conflict with patient and/or patient family members

  • Unsafe patient assignments or floating outside of scope of practice

  • Inadequate resources or training

  • Injuries

If you are given an assignment to a unit for which you are incapable of safely performing your duties, please do the following:

  • Contact the supervisor for assistance. If further escalation is required, contact Trusted Health for mediation

  • Complete an incident report at the facility (if required)

The following process will be initiated upon filing a formal complaint with Trusted:

  • An intake interview or phone interview will be conducted with your Clinical Operations Manager

  • After a careful screening process, the complaint is investigated to determine if there is sufficient evidence to support the allegation. The complaint documentation must contain a claim which constitutes a violation of rights.

  • A complaint may be settled at any time after it is filed. Opportunities will be given to all parties involved to ask questions, provide information, and suggest witnesses in order to resolve the complaint.

  • As the investigation proceeds, individuals will be interviewed and pertinent records and documents will be reviewed.

  • The person filing the complaint must cooperate fully by providing accurate information and by supplying documents to support the allegations.

  • All information gathered in the course of an investigation is subject to disclosure unless otherwise protected by the individual’s right to privacy (e.g. medical records).

Trusted Health will not permit employment-based retaliation against anyone who, in good faith, brings a complaint of workplace violence or who speaks as a witness in the investigation of a complaint of workplace violence.
