To obtain a license in a new state, check out our Trusted licensure guides:

You can use these guides to gain insight into requirements for obtaining or renewing a state license, with special consideration given to licensure for travelers.

Trusted is happy to reimburse for all costs associated with obtaining a license in a new state as long as you take an assignment in that state within 90 days of receiving your license. License renewals are not covered under Trusted's reimbursement policy.

The time it takes to receive your new nursing license varies depending on several factors, such as how quickly the BON processes your application if fingerprinting is required, the amount of time it takes to verify your current license, or if there is an influx of applicants due to new graduates. Because licensure can be a lengthy process, most facilities will require an active state license in order to be considered for a role.

When states make allowances for emergency licensure, each facility in that state individually determines if they will accept an emergency license. If a facility will not accept an emergency license, this will be noted under the "Requirements" section of the Match Details page. If you do not see this disclaimer, an emergency license will not be accepted.

Finally, keep in mind that Trusted does not assist with the application process directly. As a technology company, our goal is to provide you with easy-to-use resources that equip you to take control of your travel nurse experience, including obtaining a license independently.
