What does the interview process look like?

When should I apply for a Match?

Our general rule is that if you can start within about 30 days of the start date posted, it is ok to apply for the Match. The hiring manager will have the final say in whether or not the facility can accommodate your requested start date.

How can I include scheduling requests?

When you apply to a Match, you can include any requested time off or scheduling preferences (such as block scheduling or no weekends). However, please note that these are just requests and not guaranteed by Trusted. The final decision on scheduling rests with the hiring manager and the unit’s needs.

Facilities may accommodate requests, but they often rely on travelers to be flexible. If a facility cannot accommodate a request, they may decline your application.

For the best chance of having your requests considered, mention them during the phone interview, even if you’ve included them in your application.

Note: For auto offers, quick start, or crisis jobs, scheduling requests cannot be accommodated, as there is no interview and facilities expect travelers to be flexible.

I applied for a Match- what happens now?

Once you apply to a Match, your profile will go through a review to ensure your skills and experience align with the facility’s requirements. Your Advocate’s team will review your profile to help you stand out. If anything additional is needed before submission, your Advocate will reach out directly.

After your profile is submitted to the facility, the next steps are in the hands of the hiring manager. They may reach out to schedule a phone interview or choose to extend an offer directly. The interview process—and timeline—can vary widely by facility, typically taking anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

Trusted generally receives openings 6–8 weeks before their anticipated start dates. Once you receive and sign an offer, onboarding usually takes 2–4 weeks. So even if a Match lists an "ASAP" start, please note that immediate starts are not typical due to necessary onboarding steps.

How long does it take to hear back?

The annoying (but true) answer is it depends on how urgently the facility needs clinicians, how many people have already been submitted, and how quickly the Account Manager (who is responsible for filling the role) is passing applications to a hiring manager. Usually, if you don't hear back within a week the job is less viable, but we do still see clinicians being chosen for interviews and offers beyond that point.

Oftentimes, the facility will contact you directly, so you may know you will be having an interview before we do. Be sure your voicemail box is set up, just in case you are unable to take a call!

How many Matches should I apply to?

Submitting an application for more than one Match increases your chances of getting an assignment - we generally see that it takes 5-10 applications in order to get an offer. You may apply for as many Matches feel you are truly qualified for and would plan to accept if you were to receive an offer, unless of course new information came up that was different than what was in the Match. Just keep in mind that you’ll only be able to accept one contract at a time.

Note: Some hospital systems will not allow you to submit to multiple jobs at the same facility at once. If this happens, your Advocate will let you know, and you will get control over which position you would like to submit to.

How will I know if I have an offer?

Often, the hiring manager will let you know at the end of your interview whether to expect an offer or when to anticipate a follow-up. In some cases, they may be vague or forget to mention next steps—so don’t hesitate to ask before the call ends.

After your interview, be sure to let your Advocate know you’ve spoken with the facility. This allows our team to follow up proactively on your behalf. If we receive any updates, your Nurse Advocate will reach out to you right away.

Keep us in the loop—and we’ll always do the same for you!

How do I see a list of my active applications?

You can view your applications by clicking apply from your homescreen and navigating to your applications tab.
